You thought this weekend was just Arbor Day didn’t you? WRONG! Not only is this weekend all about celebrating trees, but we’re also celebrating malaria. Wait…I mean…you get what I’m saying.
World Malaria Day is on April 25th and to help spread the word, Population Services International (PSI), along with a coalition of global health organizations released a video featuring Ashley Judd that brings attention to the prevention and treatment of malaria.
It’s hard to believe that each year 350-500 million cases of malaria occur worldwide, and over one million people die, most of them young children in Africa south of the Sahara. The good news is that the tools to prevent and treat this awful disease have been developed.
To encourage government involvement Ashley will be in Washington, D.C. today and tomorrow meeting with members of Congress to advance the policy issues around a more effective U.S. engagement in the global fight against malaria.
Check out Ashely’s video below and take a second to educate yourself about this vicious disease.

Thank you for posting this, always happy to support Ashley’s tireless humanitarian work.
Sincerely,
Bambi
