Idol’s Anoop Desai Asked By PETA India To Front New Campaign

April 24th 2009

anoopAnoop Desai, one of the latest singers to be voted off of American Idol, has been approached by the Indian chapter of PETA to help lead a new campaign for animal birth control.

“Anoop Desai is a huge hit in India because of being an Indian. He is an inspiration. There are sentiments of Indians associated with him and we want him to join the cause like previous ‘American Idol’ Vanessa Olivarez, Kellie Pickler and Ruben Studdard as well as judge Simon Cowell in using his celebrity status to help PETA help animals,” N G Jayasimha, campaign manager of PETA India, told IANS. “We want him to speak up for the dogs on the streets, as they really suffer a lot and need a voice. Though he is now out of the show, but he still has a huge appeal and fan following and we are hoping to ride on that,” he added.

Based on Anoop’s fan base in India, we wouldn’t be surprised if his star shines brightest there in the wake of American Idol. Hopefully, he’ll help lend a bit of that fame to some great organizations like PETA.

  1. Lol, you guys could of used a better picture of him there…

  2. That’s good opportunity for him. First he need to establish himself in his parents native land (country) before his going to make a record label of his own. Visit Asian country and come here in the USA and make a label. That’s a big networking in his career.

  3. arrogance??

  4. I hope he takes the offer! :)
