Calling All Ecorazzi Readers: Chuck Needs Our Help!!

If you ask me, Ecorazzi and VEGdaily have some of the coolest, thoughtful, heartfelt readers on the web. I’ve met so many of you at parties, rallies and events all across the country and know how truly awesome our community is!

Today I’m writing an extra special post about a vegan hero who needs our help.

Chuck Pappas begin working at Farm Sanctuary in 2005 as the Fulfillment Coordinator in Watkins Glen, NY. According to his friends, Chuck is a vital part of the sanctuary and has played an active role in improving the lives of so many abused animals.

In March, Chuck was diagnosed with brain cancer and has already spent over two weeks in the hospital, had more than a dozen MRIs, been operated on twice, given six prescriptions, and will now have titanium plates in his skull for the rest of his life. With Chuck out of work indefinitely, the medical bills are piling up fast. His emergency flight from Ithaca to Rochester was not covered by insurance, and the bill for that single item is about $10,000.

Luckily, Chuck has an incredible group of family and friends who will be walking (or biking) from the Taking Action For Animals Conference in DC to the Farm Sanctuary Hoe Down in Watkins Glen, NY  to raise money for his recovery. And they need YOUR support!

We know that the economy is going through it right now and that many people have little to spare, but even 5 or 10 dollars would make a huge difference and help a man who has spent so much of his life helping others.

If you can, take a moment to visit GiveForward.org and show Chuck that you care!

  1. Michael, you could contact Ellen Degeneres.

Besides being vegan and an animal lover, she’s also a very generous person and she helps a lot of people financially (on her show), so I’m sure she would find a way to help Chuck Pappas.

For instance she has nearly 1 million followers on Twitter, therefore she could send out a twit urging them to help out.

    It’s just an idea…

  2. I agree!

If anybody has Ellen’s contact info and wants to pass this along, I would be happy to help in anyway I can.

  3. Well this is her official site:

and this is one way to contact her:

    Good luck!

  4. The people at the Farm Sanctuary are some of the most caring people we have ever met. We got married on the Farm in Watkins Glen five years ago, and we are going there next weekend to celebrate our five year anniversary. I just donated and I hope others will as well. You simply won’t find a better, and more dedicated, group of people.

  5. I am from Canada and it won’t let me donate?? :(

  6. I’m donating. Good karma brings in good karma.
