Disney knows more than just how to make a kid smile! Those adorable Mouseketeers just made this guy crack a serious grin!

Before Earth was released, Disney announced that they would plant one tree for each ticket sold during the opening week. According to the estimate we made last week, that would be close to 2 MILLION TREES!! Well…we were pretty damn spot on!

News broke today that Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has arranged with The Nature Conservancy to plant 2.7 million trees in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest — one of the planet’s most endangered rainforests.

Through its campaign to Plant a Billion Trees, The Nature Conservancy, one of the world’s leading international conservation organizations and its local partners are working to reforest 2.5 million acres of land and re-connect more than 12 million acres in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest — one of the planet’s most endangered and ecologically significant rainforests. And thanks to Disney they are 2.7 million trees closer.

Beth Stevens, senior vice president, of Environmental Affairs at The Walt Disney Company, said:

“We are thrilled that through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund that we were able to expand a long relationship between Disney and The Nature Conservancy. The fund was established to support the study and protection of the world’s wildlife and ecosystems, and ‘EARTH’ presented the perfect opportunity to give back to our planet in this tremendous way.”

Tremendous, indeed! A great big hug to the people at Disney for honoring their word and kicking ass on behalf of Mother Earth. WE SALUTE YOU!
