President Obama Makes The First 100 Days Greener Than Ever

Here on the Razz we’ve certainty showcased many of Obama’s green initiatives since taking office over 100 days ago. From planting an organic garden to offering hybrid tax credits, the Obama clan have proved that they are taking the environment seriously.
Our friends at TheDailyGreen.com have compiled a list of 100 things the new administration has done to help make this world a cleaner place.
Here are two of my favorites:
1. Home Energy Tax Credits
President Obama’s first legislative victory in Congress was a massive economic stimulus bill that makes unprecedented investments in the environment and renewable energy. For homeowners, the biggest and most direct reward came in the form of credits for home energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy investments like highly efficient windows and doors, insulation, solar panels, geothermal heating and cooling systems and the like. Homeowners can claim thousands of dollars in tax credits, and pay less on energy bills for years to come.
6. Declaring Greenhouse Gases Dangerous
In acknowledging the by-now obvious — greenhouse gas pollution causes global warming, and our environment, health and well-being is threatened by global warming — Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency set the stage for the first national carbon regulations on cars and power plants. Whether that regulation comes from the EPA, Congress or both remains to be seen, but for the first time the price of fouling the climate will be factored into the cost of doing business, and ultimately that the U.S. will confront the threat of global warming. Though the costs of higher energy or other regulation may be a short-term burden, Obama and many economists believe that the cost of doing nothing will prove far costlier.

All of these actions don’t mean anything because he accepted a non-shelter dog as a gift from a politically important friend.
( sarcasm off )
There’s also a neat timeline of Obama+environment via treehugger: http://bit.ly/T5KjM
I agreed with Heidi. I can’t take Obama the liar seriously after he broke his promise to shelter dogs. His outrageously irresponsible decision shows an unforgiveable lack of compassion for the 4 million shelter animals who are killed every year in this country and the hundreds of thousands more who will continue to be pumped out by puppy mills. This “choice” will have severe long term effects on companion animals in this country.
Besides, I think these “greener than ever” ideas are pretty lackluster.
What about a tax credit for vegans? Our carbon footprints are lower than anyone!
As for declaring greenhouse gases dangerous…this means nothing so long as the most culpable polluters (ie. factory farms) are getting exemptions from emission regs & the clean air act.
I’ve stumbled upon this over the internet, but I have no way of finding out if this guy is the real thing or if this is just another hoax:

He actually claims he invented a clean source of energy based on electromagnetic theories…
I’m not American so I can’t validate the truth of his statements… If you like and have the means, you can do some research and figure it out!
…invented a way to produce clean energy based on…
That’s more accurate
sorry

Christine, my sarcasm was directed at attitudes similar to the one you hold. No personal insult intended.
Christine, a tax credit for vegans is ideal but not logical. How would you prove that the person eats a vegan diet on a day to day basis? What if they “slip up” occasionally? And by “slip up” I’m referring to all those people who would jump on the bandwagon to get the tax credit. The dietary habits of an individual are not easy to trace like paperwork for a hybrid/electric car.
