How would you prove that the person eats a vegan diet on a day to day basis? What if they "slip up" occasionally? And by "slip up" I'm referring to all those people who would jump on the bandwagon to get the tax credit. The dietary habits of an individual are not easy to trace like paperwork for a hybrid/electric car. Christine, a tax credit for vegans is ideal but not logical. His outrageously irresponsible decision shows an unforgiveable lack of compassion for the 4 million shelter animals who are killed every year in this country and the hundreds of thousands more who will continue to be pumped out by puppy mills. This "choice" will have severe long term effects on companion animals in this country. Besides, I think these "greener than ever" ideas are pretty lackluster. What about a tax credit for vegans? Our carbon footprints are lower than anyone! As for declaring greenhouse gases dangerous...this means nothing so long as the most culpable polluters (ie. factory farms) are getting exemptions from emission regs & the clean air act.
