If you thought David Letterman’s electrocution stunt was over-the-top, just wait until you see what happens when the team over at Reno 911 get their first all-electric squad car. Just like those “unstable” hydrogen fuel cells exploding in the latest James Bond movie, we can expect the jokes about future energy sources to continue.

Unfortunately, we can also expect some people to believe that buying an electric vehicle will actually endanger their lives. Probably the same people who believe Stephen Colbert is a serious conservative television host. Check it out below:

I freakin LOVE it how he says ” we shoulda called the Japanese.. shoulda called the Japanese.” at the end. That is priceless!

Damn straight. That’s why I drive a Prius.

These American car companies (ones that haven’t shut down yet) can suck it.

American, but embarrassed by the car industry here.

That was funny! We Are Not Offended. I’ve driven an all-electric mini-SUV for nearly seven years and let me tell you, all those sparklers going off like the fourth of July? That’s the joyous feeling I get knowing that I’m making a huge contribution to clean air and the battle against global warming. We charge our EV with solar power, so we drive ZERO EMISSION, well to wheels. We like to say we drive on sunshine! It’s frickin-tastic. It’s kind of a sad…but in a hilarious sort of way…statement about the american car industry. I also love the idea of a “sunshine car”. Way to Go Zan!

I agree with erin. I love how Dangle says ”we should’ve gone Japanese”. Haha!
