Jessica Alba Apologizes For Oklahoma City Shark Stunt

jessA stunt that was meant to help highlight the plight of great white sharks has instead backfired on Jessica Alba. The actress released a statement late today apologizing for her involvement in the defacement of Oklahoma City property — and offering to help pay for the United Way advertisement she vandalized.

“I got involved in something I should have had no part of,” she said. “I realize that I should have used better judgment and I regret not thinking things through before I made a spontaneous and ill-advised decision to let myself get involved with the people behind this campaign. I sincerely apologize to the citizens of Oklahoma City and to the United Way for my involvement in this incident.”

Alba’s admission of guilt came after the organization behind the bizarre campaign, White Mike, posted images of the 28-year-old actress posing in front of — and gluing — shark posters to various buildings and signs. The photos were later taken down from the site — but by that point, other blogs had jumped on them and spread the word.

According to Starpulse, cops have confirmed they have requested to speak to Alba over the incident. No doubt, there will be some slapped wrists over this one.

    I’m sick of splitting hairs. I care about the environment– so does Ms. Alba, apparently. She had the courage to take action on it so kudos to her.
    Was it a well-planned effort or considerate of it’s effect? MMM, not so much.
    Was it a crime and was property “destroyed”? Well that’s all relative isn’t it? The walls and billboard structures are still there, they can be repainted. Sorry to the United Way but not every activist action is perfect, or PC if I remember correctly.

    If you don’t like celebrities in your town or are in a panic attack about glue and paper, I suggest you re-channel that energy to something worth the time.

    So, Don Miguelo, you won’t mind if I come to your home and deface your property because I feel that this administration is selling our country down the river? Illegal activity is NOT warranted and such vandalism should be dealt with as the law would deal with any punk. Miss Alba is nothing more than an attractive, wealthy “punk”. She should NOT be allowed to “help pay” for the damage to the United Way sign, she should be forced to personally CLEAN the areas she defaced. Since the posters are down, she should be required to clean the city streets in an orange jump suit—community service. Only when she realizes that her rash decisions have consequences that affect HER will she start to mature. She has a long way to go, however.

    Anyway good points that I don’t really agree with. Come on over and evolve “my” property anytime!
    You know plenty of people have been “dealt with as the law would deal” and have not stopped doing their illegal activity–Just a thought. Although I must concede celebs shouldn’t just be able to false apologize and buy their way out of the consequence any other person would have gotten. Politicians do enough of that already, don’t you think?
