June 19th 2009

Whale Wars is rolling along on Animal Planet and we’ve got a new clip from tonight’s episode featuring a very close encounter with a Japanese whaling vessel. Check it out below:

  1. I was also thinking about using the chopper, but fill a tank with the substances, and spray it over the ship like a crop duster.

  2. These whales are contaminated with high levels of mercury, methylmercury, DDT, PCBs and other TOXIC chemicals, and are unfit for human consumption, 10 to 100 times the legal “safe” limit.
MOST of the meat is dumped overboard, and only the “prime cuts” are brought back to port where (how much) of the whale bacon goes to the black market.
Even worse, the Japanese school system is pushing Toxic meat on its schoolchildren, who are even more susceptible to the brain killing chemicals!
WE have turned the worlds oceans into a toxic waste dump, and now are killing everything in it, haven’t we done enough yet???

If the Japanese cannot do it responsibly or legally, it’s about time someone stepped in!!!

  3. Just watched the murder of a whale on Whale Wars. Took 25 minutes to die. Funny that the only part the “researchers” keep is the stuff they sell. Just stopped buying Japanese stuff too. Will write the embassy but actually stop by since I live in the DC area. Maybe the Sea Shepherd should get a harpoon gun on the bow to use on the harpoon ships. That would be special.

So if you were to be sprayed upon by anything flying above you, wouldn’t you want to take it down? I would protect my human crew members first before any whales. I will shoot you down AFTER you spray me in attempt to defend my ship and most importantly MY CREW MEMBERS.

  5. The Whale Warriors are willing to die for a cause greater than themselves unlike the whalers who aren’t willing to die for anything yet, kill anything in the path of their small financial gain. The Whalers deserve nothing less than treatment of pirates depleting whales in oceans they do not even own.

The Whalers deserve to capital punishment after being heard by a court for their assistance in hunting an animal to extinction.

I think the world will continue to spin very smoothly without the whalers around

  6. The Japanese do not own the ocean nor have the right to go killing animals that dwell there. If my dog or cat steps outside on the curb does the neighbor have a right to kill it and package it for sale? I don’t care how Sea Shepherd comes of to people who don’t care about the actions of the Japanese whalers…at least they’re doing something.

It’s a travesty against all animal kind and shouldn’t be overlooked. We should be seeking multiple avenues to stop this activity. They need to be shamed out of this antiquated and inhumane practice from one path and forcibly removed in another. Unfortunately many in this culture have no understanding of why this wrong; they are ignorant as shown by their actions to hunt until entire species are extent. We can look at practices like cutting shark fins for soup because it means you’re a higher class than your neighbor…or cutting of bear paws for good luck. It’s sad but it seems like action needs to happen concurrently to talks. I support any action to stop this practice!

  7. I have only one suggestion and it goes to IceClass and Chris….stop your participation. I personally think you are cowards behind your computers and I would never want to be in your company if I were in danger from anything – you would be useless………please – go away.

  8. Okay, im not saying i know the laws and everything about whaling, but if the Japanese were actually doing scientific research on the whales don’t you think they would do it the way that would be the best for the whales which we now have a way of doing research without killing the whales.
The Sea Sheperds are just standing up for what they believe is right and taking action against people that are killing innocent whales for profit.
Maybe things would be different if the whalers were actually doing whale research without killing the whales instead of killing them for profit.

  9. and to IceClass, Im sorry but you just seem like a jerk that cant find anything better to do than to sit at your keyboard and critize people that are risking their lives everyday to save whales, which are some of the most beautiful animals on the planet.
And just because the law might permit “research” on whales, which shouldnt even involve killing them, doesnt mean its right.
And i am not some “groupie” for you to critize either. I think its a great thing that the Sea Sheperds are acting against these so called whale “researchers”

  10. I am stopping in to support the fight against these horrbile monsters. Research…. b.s. plain and simple, this is murder for financial gain. So convenient that they start this “research group” the very next year after the world forces them to follow the new whaling laws.

I would give anything to be out there on the Sea Shepard fighting along side those brave people. Go SEA SHEPARD!!!
