This is shocking.

Reports are streaming in from across the web — most notably TMZ.com — that legendary singer Michael Jackson has died of a severe heart attack. He was 50 years old. Said TMZ,

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We’re told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back. A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived. Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but he was completely unresponsive.

We’ll update more as we get it. Our thoughts are with his family.

[UPDATE: CNN live reporters are saying that Michael Jackson is in a coma. We're hoping that's true.]

[UPDATE 2: MSNBC has now confirmed that Michael has passed away. With Farrah Fawcett and Ed McMahon passing as well, this is turning into a very sad week.]

    TMZ would have lost all credibility if they’d called that one wrong. I knew sadly it was true when they broke the news…

    I just saw someone post the old Ecorazzi link about Michael being a vegetarian. I wanted to reply – it doesn’t matter if you’re taking a ton of prescription drugs from your dealer… er I mean DOCTOR (same diff)
