The Green Quote: Miley Cyrus Concedes Defeat In Going Vegetarian

July 5th 2009

miley“I’m from Tennessee and we like country fried steak a lot. I like fried food. I wasn’t able to give up the meat. I want a steak or a burger from McDonald’s every once in a while. A double-double is just way too good. I’ve still got to eat. I’ve got the rest of my life to stay healthy.”

Miley Cyrus in a recent interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

  1. How shallow.

  2. Haha, I’m not at all surprised. Teenage celebrities aren’t particularly known for their sense of conviction. I wonder how long it’ll take for her to realize that you’re not actually an environmentalist if you eat meat.

  3. i’m not surprised either…

but I HATE that “i’m healthy now so its ok” excuse. you have your whole life to be healthy? you also have your whole life to be SICK….

Why not strive to keep your good health? I guess it’s just easier to pop pills for heart disease and cholesterol then give up a effing big mac.

and as one of my fav buttons say “‘they taste good’ is not a good enough reason to torture animals

  4. Come one guys, it’s a personal choice.

You can’t just call her shallow because of her dietary habits.

    XXASAB

  5. I can’t help but pull an epic headdesk when people use the, “I can’t give up meat- I still gotta eat!” (unintentional rhyme!) line as an attempt at a reason for not giving up meat. Meat is not the only food! It’s not even the healthiest food!

  6. Whatever girl, not too sharp.

  7. What a phony…

She has all the right in the world (unfortunately) to eat meat, but at least she should stop promoting a ‘green’ image of herself!

If she wants to fool herself that’s her problem, but she doesn’t have the right to use a ‘green image’ (which obviously is fake) to promote her career!!

  8. Hey, I’ve got to eat, too, and I’ve found delicious foods that don’t hurt anyone. I wish I had eaten less fried food when I was younger (as much as I loved it).

The only thing that stops me wanting to pul a *headdesk* when someone whines about not being able to give up meat is that I used to be there myself.

  9. You guys are idiots and need to be smacked. You can care about the environment and still eat meat. I cannot stand you overbearing veggies telling everyone they are wrong for eating what they want, you know what its their bodies, their health and you will never stop the slaughter of animals for food because its not going to happen! You can bitch, complain, and call people phony all you want it will not do any good. Because most people see you people like I do a bunch annoying little heffers who are so miserable they have to bitch about everything and everything people do, I am a vegetarian and could give a flip if you eat a whole side of beef sitting next to me, you know why its my personal choice just like that side of cow is theirs and the fact I have no right to tell any other human being how to live! But thats how you “artsy”, thick black rimmed glasses wearing, overbearing twits operate and offend others instead of informing of the benefits of vegetarianism.

  10. Whatever. LOL!

  11. BOB1964 – That aggression you have comes from eating eggs and drinking cow’s milk. The hormones make you all primal and stuff.

The difference between you and a vegan is, vegans care about animals AND the environment… not just filling their bellies with cheese pizza. The sight of beef being eaten next to them would make them vomit. Ok?

    LOL!

  12. i knew i didn’t like her.

  13. Eating meat is as personal a choice as molesting children, i.e. it’s not a personal choice when it harms others.

  14. Hey Bob (I don’t like that name)

Actually I don’t know that you CAN care about the environment and eat meat. You can *say* you care, but scientists have proven (like the study the UN released) that the best way to help this planet is to give up meat. So I don’t really think one can eat meat in good conscious.

Plus a lot of us are hippies and don’t wear black rimmed glasses. I can’t wear black as it looks too dark against my pale face. I prefer a tan frame..

    E

  15. BOB1964…

I truly doubt you’re a vegetarian! Veg*ans are peaceful, evolved, intelligent and tolerant people, something which you’re obviously not.

You’re a rude, arrogant, frustrated person who doesn’t even know how to punctuate a sentence correctly…

“You guys are idiots and need to be smacked [...] most people see you people like I do a bunch annoying little heffers who are so miserable they have to bitch about everything and everything people do”

This pretty much says everything about your level of evolution!

“you know why its my personal choice just like that side of cow is theirs and the fact I have no right to tell any other human being how to live!”

Your freedom to do anything you want (as well as anyone else’s freedom) ends when it hurts someone else, an animal or the environment. No one has the right to inflict pain on another living creature and no one has the right to destroy the environment – therefore, personal freedom is somewhat subjective.

“But thats how you “artsy”, thick black rimmed glasses wearing, overbearing twits operate and offend others”

After everything you just wrote, you have the nerve to say we offend others!?

    Okay…!

  16. hopefully as she grows older (and becomes more educated, i hope), she will look back on this statement with regret. especially after she resorts to anorexia and/or coke to deal with her growing muffin top.

  17. I think that you can consider yourself an environmentalist and still eat meat. There is no check-list here. You can be doing everything else right but because you intake meat (let’s say, once a week) it doesn’t delete everything else you do in your life to promote sustainable development, green living, etc. Yes I’m aware that it is a lifestyle with a huge impact (not eating meat) but look at it from the other side of the coin: would you call a hummer-driving, oil sand working, litterbug who is a vegetarian/vegan an environmentalist? Probably not.

She is young and we are quick to judge whilst no one is perfect. She has ingrained traditional values that she has to get over first. I hope that she looks back and thinks to herself ‘Man, that sounded kinda dumb’ and learns from it.
