Twitter Thursday: One Year Subscriptions To WEND Magazine!

July 9th 2009

wend_tt

For this week’s Twitter Thursday, we want to expand your horizons with some subscriptions to the wonderful magazine WEND.

At first we thought “WEND” was some kind of obscure acronym, but instead it’s been revealed to be an obscure Old English word meaning “to proceed on or along”. That’s pretty fitting for a magazine that inspires both adventure and activism, chronicling people around the world making a difference for the planet. From their website,

Wend is a forum for real people, writing real stories about real adventures and real environmental issues. As an independent media group, active in both environmental activism and the outdoors, we realize that part of going off the beaten path means making sure the path doesn’t get beaten. We are a magazine that understands that to advocate for the majesty of nature, we’d be hypocritical to print on paper that comes from destroying it, and thus, every issue of Wend is printed on locally sourced, FSC certified paper.

We should note that the entire mag is also printed with soy-based inks. If that still doesn’t suit your green hearth, you can also read their online digital edition in lieu of paper.

For today’s giveaway, WEND has generously donated 4 subscriptions. We’ll be giving two away on Twitter and two more here on the site. There’s also a special discount running for those that don’t end up winning this week’s contest. Just enter the discount code “ecorazzi” on their subscription page and receive a year for only $18 — 40% off the retail price.

  1. If money wasn’t an object I would go to the Galapagos Islands with my own fleet of tour operators who wouldn’t exploit the natural resources and would provide a natural historic perspective without interfering with the islands or animals. Oh and they all must be vegan. This would all happen while traveling in a silent, solar operated boat..or vegetable oil operated plane of course! :) Haha

  2. If money were no object, I would head off to Patagonia. Ever since I bought my first Patagonia shell (from the company), I’ve been fascinated with those mountains.

  3. If money were no object (and time travel were possible), I would visit China and travel along the Yangtze River before the Three Gorges Dam was built.

  4. I WOULD WANT TO GO TO ALASKA

  5. If money was no object and I was allowed I would go see my husband who is deployed but If that was not possible I would take the kids and go to Australia It is soo beautiful there!

  6. I would like to go to SCOTLAND ~

  7. Hard to choose one. Ooooh- Galapagos- want to do that for sure! I say Greenland. :)

  8. Tibet. Cause why not?

  9. I’d fly to Japan to visit my brother :) . Can I go to the Congo too?

  10. I probably would say Hawaii. I know its cliche but it just looks so beautiful! I’d love to hike up the volcano and just take in all of the natural beauty!

  11. I want to go to Ireland!!!

  12. I would go to Belize for kayaking, hiking among the Mayan temples, horseback riding, snorkeling, and other cool adventures.

  13. I would go to Australia and New Zealand!!

  14. If money was no object I’d buy a ton of second hand equipment (climbing gear, kayak, surfboard, etc.), throw it in an Airstream (towed by a biodiesel truck, natch) and hit the road in the US for a good long while. I’d like to go back to Tahiti but unless I was doing some crazy cool ecotourism abroad I’d rather stay “home”, keep the footprint low, take in the sights and see my friends who are spread out across the country.

  15. If money was no object, I’d like to go to Japan. It is such a fascinating country!

  16. Safari in Africa
