Did Heather Mills Secretly Launch Her New Vegan Food Range?

You know that new line of frozen vegan grub Heather Mills has been planning on launching for awhile now? I think she just did it — but (unless I missed a press release somewhere) rather inconspicuously.
While digging through the new VBites website for her all-vegan restaurant/cafe that just opened in the UK, I came across an online shop advertising what looks to me like frozen entrees. If true, it appears that Heather’s new range will also carry the same name as her cafe.
Each of the boxes, shaped like a baby grand piano, carry information on them that clearly points to supermarket-ready products. A “Use By” box is visible — as are certifications from the Vegetarian and Vegan societies. In addition, some even carry caloric information. So, we can only conclude that Mills’ VBites for the home has launched. When they’ll be available locally in the UK, besides ordering from the website, is not yet known.
Wanna see more — browse the initial lineup here. What do you think of the new Mills’ new range?

Looks pretty good, but I’m wondering why they chose the shape they did. Is it to stand out from other competitive brands? Is it a way to reduce packaging waste?
I also think it’s funny how, under the list of product qualities, it says: *Ethical
Loves it!
I looked over some of the ingredients and they seem to be a helluva lot healthier than other vegan meat and dairy substitute products.
I will definitely buy these on occasion if they come out in the US market.
The products are the same as they are selling on another website.
For example this product:
http://www.bazaarbuilder.com/cgi-bin/vbites/myshop.php?merchant=vbites&prodid=18&sinprod=1¤cyid=287
Is similar to this product:
http://www.bazaarbuilder.com/cgi-bin/cb260/myshop.php?merchant=cb260&prodid=302&sinprod=1¤cyid=287
In fact some of the products on the Vbites store pull the images and information from the this other website, for example:
http://www.redwoodfoods.co.uk/shop/vbites/vb04.jpg
Regarding the shape, as the images of the products are similar the right hand section with the curve is where the other company has their logo!
So if I ordered some – which packaging would it look more like?
Apart from the obvious similarity with products – the products look pretty good, definitely be checking them out.
It seems to be Redwood products http://www.redwoodfoods.co.uk/products/ , in different packaging. Even if that’s the case, Redwoods make great stuff, so bring it on!
Oh, just read on The Vegan Forum that she’s bought the Redwood company, so that explains it!
Not sure she has purchased Redwoods – more likly that she is using Redwoods to produce the V bites range for her company.
I dunno, someone on the Vegan Forum said they heard it at her restaurant.
I was at the opening & everyone was saying that she’d bought redwoods. I’ll be going again on Sunday, so I can check it out with the staff there (I’ll up the details on my twitter http://twitter.com/veganbodybuild )if you’re interested.
Curiouser and Curiouser.
I think as always with Heather a little bit of poetic license is always advisable.
‘Mine’ probably means ‘a bit of’
‘Bought’ probably means ‘invested in or working with’
It would be great if Heather does end up either taking Gardein to the supermarkets or getting Redwoods stuff made in the USA so they can really transform the US market the way they’ve changed lives in the UK
She works hard, she has the contacts and we know when she has her heart set on something she bites hard and won’t let go
So glad she’s on our side!
checked out companies house and she is a director of Redwoods – so maybe she has?
World Vegan Day,
I’m hoping that she works to bring more US products to the UK, not the other way around. I’m American, and live in the UK, and I think the range of vegan products is much better in the States. It seems like Quorn has a real monopoly on vegetarian foods here, and absolutely none of what they sell is vegan, yet it’s often the only meat substitute in supermarkets.
I love trying new vege products! Bring them to the US!
Curious why so many vegans want to eat fake meat. That is gross to me when there are so many great no animal pure foods out there. Why would you want to eat fake fish?
Once again she will claim this is something SHE created when she actually just bought an existing company. She should stop telling lies, but I think that is all she knows how to do.
oh wow anne, you must clearly be much better than anyone else in the world for being so pure and wholesome – or rather, smug and self-righteous and full of yourself is more like it. Fake meat is great – it tastes great, its a million times healthier option than real meat and probably the best way to convince meat eaters to reduce or eliminate their meat intake.
heather is great !!
Heather is a great liar and fraud. As a person she is not so great. She now claims to have been a vegan for 12 years. She wasn’t even vegetarian until she met McCartney. Why does she constantly have to lie? She has hurt too many people to be a great person.
World Vegan Day–I’ve seen Gardein products at my local Whole Foods under the “It’s All Good” brand name. And you can get it through Vegan Essentials.
Anne, not everyone is a veg*an because s/he hates the taste of meat. Some of us have ethical reasons, and I’m sure many people–omni and veg–eat the stuff because it’s better for you than the stuff it replaces.
If more analgoues convince people to reduce or eliminate their animal foods consumption, thereby reducing animal suffering and all the issues inherent in animal industry, I say bring them on!
Anne, why so bitter ? sounds great to me that she was so openminded and changed into a veggie when she married a veggie. I wish more people are so openminded.
You dont like veggiemeat ?okay ! but why bitch about, its VEGAN ,no animals were hurt, so its perfectly OKAY.
Heather is maybe not perfect but surely she has tremendous energy for veganism and is a veggie inspiration to many people.
Anne, you are completely wrong about Heather not being veggie until she met Paul. You can watch an interview on her website from breakfast TV in the 80’s where she states quite clearly that she went veggie to help her with her accident. You are clearly just another typical Beatle fan that is bitter. Keep to topic and get your facts right.
She may be kooky but atleast she knows her way around a vegan kitchen.
He you not heard of Fry’s is excellent, and I hear that they are will soon have 12 products listed in Holland and Barret!!! Cant wait!
She tells porkies and has been caught out so many times.
Her GMTV appearances during her messy divorce were excruciating to watch. Tears appeared and the voice went octaves higher in an effort to catch the sympathy vote and it was truly embarrassing. Why make meat looking vegetarian products?
Why don’t veggies just eat real meat – it’s much more tasty!
They’re coming out with a new young cannibals line called “Taste Just Like Chicken”… no but in all seriousness, I agree with the first comment, the packaging is truly wasteful, in production, shipping and shelving. Might look cute, but there’s better ways to attract consumer attention other than doubling your packaging costs.
