Green Screen: “Entourage” Captures Ugly Beauty Of LA Smog

While enjoying the premiere of Season Six of HBO’s hit series Entourage, I couldn’t help but notice the nasty backdrop during one scene. Is that really you Los Angeles peaking through the smog?
Scenes such as this one are images that the city is attempting to change. In April 2009, the Los Angeles air basin was ranked as one of the dirtiest regions in the nation. In response, officials have signaled “intentions” to make the region “coal-free” by 2020 — relying instead on energy from renewable sources, natural gas, nuclear and hydroelectric power.
Till then, we hope Vinny Chase and the gang breathe lightly.
Yeah, I noticed this, too. I thought she was in China or something – it looked so foreign to me! Plus, the season premiere was boring, IMHO.
Wouldn’t it be cool if the show included the actors evolving and getting into the Hollywood green image frenzy by driving zero emission and/or near zero emission vehicles (Honda FCX Clarity, Tesla Roadster, BMW/Mini E, Venturi Fetish, Fisker Karma, Dodge ENVI) instead of gasoline guzzling behemoths (Cadillac Escalade, Aston Martins, Porsches, etc.)? How about Vinny Chase putting photovoltaics on his mansion as a way to improve his “green image?” Art imitating the actor’s real life? Would Entourage be “Jumping the Shark” if Ari Gold got Vinny to do an environmental image building stunt since it’s trendy in Hollywood?
Eco Mama — I do know that Adrian Grenier has tried hard to make the set of Entourage a bit greener, but even he admits it’s tough to get people to see beyond the typical Hollywood setting of fast, gas-guzzling cars.
Went to that spot nearly every day for 8 yrs when I lived there walking the dog. It was sad. Some days you couldn’t see at all. Especially mid day.. That was the worst.
Never loved that show too much. I have HBO now and don’t even watch it. Maybe I just don’t *get* it… Prefer Trueblood or hung

I’ve heard that there will be a Tesla in this season of Entourage. Apparently it flashed on-screen in the 1st episode (which I haven’t seen yet).
