newbalance 070, eco

Here on the Razz, we always talk about “walking the walk” when it comes to living a greener lifestyle, but we want to make sure your doing it in comfort. That’s why for this week’s Twitter Thursday we’ve hooked up with New Balance to giveaway three pairs of their brand spankin’ new 070 Eco shoes. Here’s a bit from a review on what makes them so squeaky green:

The 070 fits together like a kind of puzzle to reduce waste. The outsole features a rice husk fill that decreases the amount of rubber used in the production of the shoe. The insert, as well as all synthetics, are made from recycled materials. The upper materials use a combination of recycled polyester and natural materials. The upper is also designed so that everything has a symmetrical opposite. This was done to minimize waste as much as possible when cutting the material for the shoes.

It also helps that the shoes look good — so unless anyone asks, they’re not going to know your rice husk secret. As a bonus, if you get hungry, you can eat them. (Lawyer’s note: Do not eat these shoes.)

You get to choose between men and women’s varieties, size, and color. Check out the combos at the official site here.

These vegan/eco shoes would do me wonders. For two years, due to chronic feet problems, I’ve only been able to wear sneakers. Yes, I recycle my sneakers after I’m done via http://www.nikereuseashoe.com/ but I’d love a pair that were eco to begin with and recyclable at the end. Where would I wear them? Well, since I can only wear sneakers, I would wear them absolutely everywhere:)

If you are like me then you know that Target and Payless are the only places to really find more than a handful of options for all man-made material shoes. It is one of my goals to buy every kind of animal and earthly-friendly shoe that are one-of-a-kind that I find so that my feet can be a walking billboard for compassion!

And I love the lawyer’s note. I promise to not eat the shoes. I don’t eat animals, but I’m more than happy with my tofu and veggies!

  • http://laviedelaurie.com Laurie
