Proving that there is no scenario too absurd that money can’t be spent studying it, a group of researchers from universities in Canada have revealed that the human race would most certainly fold in the face of a zombie attack.
Forget ManBearPig and Climate Change — Zombies are the real threat.
Adding hilarity to an already paper-thin scientific study, one of the main researchers is named Professor Robert Smith? (No seriously, he actually has a question mark as part of his last name). From the BBC article,
In their scientific paper, the authors conclude that humanity’s only hope is to “hit them [the undead] hard and hit them often”. They added: “It’s imperative that zombies are dealt with quickly or else… we are all in a great deal of trouble.” According to the researchers, the key difference between the zombies and the spread of real infections is that “zombies can come back to life”.
All kidding aside (which is a very hard to thing to do), the researchers used the zombie attack as an example of what a “lethal, rapidly spreading infection” unfamiliar to human populations might do to civilization. So even if we manage to right our environmental issues, we’re still screwed when it comes to zombies, asteroids, and hostile aliens.
Hopefully, scientists will study next if humans can survive another massive gremlins attack. I’ve got a hungry mogwai sitting next to me and it’s getting close to midnight.
