Queen guitarist Brian May is getting his activist on and asking fans to do the same.

May recently took to his blog to give a special shout out to The World Society for the Protection of Animals’ (WSPA) Animals Matter To Me campaign.

About the campaign, he says:

“Animals Matter To Me represents the biggest ever global animal welfare initiative, linking the entire animal welfare movement with ONE STRATEGIC GOAL: global recognition that animals are sentient beings, capable of feeling pain and suffering.”

May continues on to discuss the billions of farm animals killed each year for meat, dairy and eggs, saying: ”the majority are raised in industrial farming systems where their welfare needs are not met.”

The goal of the campaign is to get at least 10 million signatures to let the governments of the world know the public is serious about achieving a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare at the United Nations. We’re in!
