Finally.
In recognition of the green work taking place through blogs and sites around the Internet, the Webby Awards announced a new “GREEN” category for 2009. From their site,
Sites that focus on “green” issues including concerns for environmental conservation and improvement of the state of the environment. Specific examples include recycling or energy blogs, websites announcing “green” corporate initiatives, conservation-focused blogging or environmentally friendly computer recycling websites.
No offense to “environmentally friendly computer recycling” websites, but I think you’ve got a snowball’s chance in hell of winning a Webby. Don’t worry, you’ll have good company — we’re not sure “Green celebrity gossip blog” is a qualifier either.
Nominees will be chosen April 2010, with the winners’ ceremony happening on June 14, 2010. If you think you’ve got a green winner (and a couple hundred bucks) get in the running by Oct. 30, the early deadline, by jumping here.
