stellamccartney“I find it astounding, because fashion is supposed to be about change – I mean, we’re supposed to be about cutting edge! I can only think they don’t care as much as people in other industries. So, yes, I think people in fashion are pretty heartless. Why on earth would they use fur and leather otherwise?

“There’s no excuse for fur in this day and age. Baby kids are boiled alive. Foxes are anally electrocuted. If that’s not heartless, what is?”

- Stella McCartney making a heartfelt comment about heartless designers. Here at the Razz we’re proud to support Stella and many other compassionate designers who prove that you don’t have to kill to be cool. Because when all is said and done, being cruelty is never fashionable.

When the facts and details of the fur industry are presented the conclusion is obvious and undeniable: “heartless,” unnecessary behavior. Thank you Stella for speaking out! We appreciate you.

I was reading Elle the other day while waiting to get my hair cut, and it was full of exotic skins and fox-fur purses. I was disgusted by Elle’s editors’ choices. Stella is right about the fashion industry, though there are a few exceptions (British [not US] Cosmo magazine, designers like Ralph Lauren who have dropped fur, Danny Seo, Ronson, etc.)

    Agreed.
Is she related to Paul McCartney, by any chance?

    • Dani Y.

      His daughter.

        Thanks :)

    McCartney is being a hypocrite.

She eats eggs and dairy products. Egg laying chickens and dairy cows don’t do much better than animals killed for luxury clothing. They spend their lives in horrible factory farms and are then slaughtered.

    • Emily

Exactly, not only that but she had silk in her fashion line once.

unless you use eggs from local free range chickens, and milk form organic farm cows where you know that the cows are being treated well. this is quite possible, and in some areas, it is common, such as where we live.

How wonderful to have someone in the public eye to speak out for those who can’t. What a wonderful legacy from Paul and Linda:) Thanks Stella…tell your friend Madonna to follow suit…she recently appeared on a talk show wearing a fur coat!!!

  • Rob

Erm, yeah, doesn’t she use wool and silk? Sheep and silk worms get killed too ya know. And if she says this but still eats eggs and milk, maybe she needs to have a rethink?

Well, the fashion industry, and even the “green” fashion industry is not going to help the environment.
