I recently read a book called DeadAid about how the increasing aid to Africa is not helping but hurting them. An example being how projects, such as this one, that donate mosquito nets to Africa are putting Africans out of business that sell these same nets. Maybe instead of donating them, they can work with the locals to keep them in business so they can continue to support themselves and their families.

I give to my share of charities. I'm not saying it's all bad and not helpful. I do, however, think a lot of us need to be more informed and start asking more questions. Just my two cents. BTW-the book is written by an African woman.
