let me pick my jaw up off the floor. Dow — world’s second largest chemical company, behind only BASF. Dow’s primary industries are chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, agricultural sciences and plastics. Dow’s main business is supplying chemicals to other industrial and chemical companies. Using oil, coals, natural gas, salt, brine and other basic inputs, Dow makes inorganic chemicals like soda, solvents, and chlorine, and organic chemicals like acetone, ethylene glycol, glycerine, phenols, etc. Dow is also the biggest plastics manufacturer in the world.

they made Agent Orange, they are the largest manufacturer of CHLORINE, creator of PLASTIC…and on and on..

That’s a doubly ironic situation when I saw this very article paired with Ecorazzi (of all websites) and an advert for solar shingles—MADE BY DOW CHEMICAL!!!!!

Thank you for publishing this. For 3 or 4 years now, environmental organizations have been letting huge corporations get away with these greenwashing campaigns, in the belief that you have to let companies start somewhere and enter into the movement…but this is outrageous. Dow Chemical??? Not only have they left a horrible footprint all over the earth that they refuse to clean up, but they also continue to make billions off of creating toxic products. Can’t afford to clean up your toxins, but you have millions for a PR campaign to improve your image?? Enough is enough. This is exactly the type of campaign that confuses the general public and ruins the movement for companies and people actually truly doing good. shame, shame on you.

well done for picking up on this story, it’s a mind-boggling account of hypocrisy in action.

But, let’s face it we expect nothing less than this sort of outrageousness from Dow, it’s all part of a very clever, and extremely expensive PR campaign.

No, the ones that I most question are the other NGO’s that Dow have got on board- the phrase ‘dancing with the Devil’ springs to mind here- and the ‘concerned’ celebrities. Pass me the sick bag will ya?!?!

Hypocrites or fools? You decide.
