IHOP might be frying up their eggs over-easy, but the conditions the mother hens are forced to endure on factory farms are nothing but hard.

Bill Maher has teamed up with the Humane Society of the United States to urge IHOP to cut the cruelty and buy eggs from cage-free producers. Major restaurant chains like Denny’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Quiznos, Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. have already started using some cage-free eggs and we think it’s about time IHOP makes the responsible choice.

In the PSA, Maher says:

“You may come hungry to IHOP, but you shouldn’t leave happy. Not as long as they only use eggs from hens crammed into tiny cages where they can barely move an inch. This is so cruel that IHOP’s home state of California has made it a crime…Forget pancakes, IHOP now stands for ‘The International House of Pain.'”
