Starting next summer, Los Angeles will see an influx of PETA peeps.

The animal rights organization recently announced that it will move about 40 employees from it’s Norfolk, Virginia HQ to LA to be closer to the action and big names in the area. Its campaigns, youth and online marketing divisions will all relocate, said Tracy Reiman, PETA’s executive vice president. “These departments conceive of and carry out those eye- and headline-catching, envelope-pushing and just plain quirky actions that have helped put animal rights on the map,” she said.

Even though PETA has had an LA office since 2006, Reiman predicts a larger presence will enable the group to have greater visibility in the Hollywood scene. “We want to be closer to the city that defines popular culture and cultivates big personalities and bigger ideas,” she told the PilotOnline. “We can have a big impact on the small screen and the larger screen.”

The move makes complete sense — especially for a group that aligns itself with a wide variety of celebrities. What it will amount to in terms of new media opportunities remains to be seen — but if anyone can take advantage of Hollywood to further their cause, it’s PETA.

Better keep your puppies indoors, LA. Don’t want PETA to kill 95 percent of ‘em. So sad, what they do to animals. What a bunch of greedy losers.

Sorry. I guess not everyone agrees that PETA is morally superior to anyone. Put down the kool-aid, clean off your glasses, and join the ranks of the lucid. Or are you afraid to challenge your superstitions?

Do you know how many animals are euthanized in shelters every year? Do you propose to do something about that, or do you prefer to snark? There are not enough people willing to adopt animals, especially in poorer parts of the country, frankly.

dear Frances, always interesting to hear somebodies opinion based on reasoning, arguments and/or facts. Unfortunately you only ramble the usual pathetic nonsense without any respect for facts or the human ability for reasoning.

    A Holiday Thought…

Aren’t humans amazing Animals? They kill wildlife – birds, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice and foxes by the million in order to protect their domestic animals and their feed.

Then they kill domestic animals by the billion and eat them. This in turn kills people by the million, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative – and fatal – - health conditions like heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and cancer.

So then humans spend billions of dollars torturing and killing millions of more animals to look for cures for these diseases.

Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals.

Meanwhile, few people recognize the absurdity of humans, who kill so easily and violently, and once a year send out cards praying for “Peace on Earth.”
