Artist Shepard Fairey, who rose to fame with his Barack Obama “HOPE” posters, has created a new poster to support the Sea Shepherd and honoring Captain Paul Watson.
“I am opposed to injustice in any form and I am an environmental advocate,” said Fairey. “The delicate balance of eco-systems needs to be maintained to protect all species, including humans. The mission of Sea Shepherd and founder Paul Watson to protect the oceans and their species is noble and inspiring. Any important movement requires a great leader to galvanize and motivate. Captain Watson is a leader who I wanted to celebrate with my art and hopefully have the art benefit the mission of Sea Shepherd.”
The print comes in two different versions, Light Blue and Dark Blue. Both are Editions of 450, 18 x 24, Signed and Numbered by Shepard and Capt. Paul Watson. $55 each. A portion of the profits will go to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Click here to purchase.

Quite a flattering portrayal there.
He should have depicted the eco-terrorist fleeing like a coward from the mighty Shonan Maru 2 while the Yushin Maru conducts its research unimpeded.
That’d be a little more realistic.
Right. Because the reason the Japanese are spending all this $$ to keep the Sea Shepherd at bay is because they’re worried over a bunch of “cowards”.
Quite the opposite.
Now wait a minute! Five minutes after this post you post on another thread about Watson, “The threat from eco-terror is getting more serious by the day.”
For a guy that claims to cherish “facts and reason,” you sure are all over the place. And what’s that last sentence above? “That’d be a little more realistic.” Someone needs to practice what they preach, in the realism dept.
The threat is indeed growing. Often when terror groups are on the defensive and losing significance, they will turn to increasingly violent and brutal methods. As Sea Shepherd have now been rendered utterly useless, they will no doubt begin to exhibit more extreme behaviour patterns in their effort to regain relevance and credibility. After all, they have a TV show that needs ratings and people won’t donate money to ineffective militants.
Just because Japan is spending money to protect their mariners does not make the eco-terrorists uncowardly. The USA has spent billions to fight Al Qaeda who are also cowardly terrorists who use violence against civilians in the pursuit of their fanatical agenda.
Anyway, all things aside, hope you fellas have a Merry Christmas!
You too buddy. We’ll pick this back up on the flipside. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
I agree, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you both.
How about this. You go onto a place that hates Sea Shepherd, and converse there. You’d have better luck there than here. I am sick of your posts about eco-terrorists. Other than the profits the Japanese gain from whaling, what have they done? Sure they hit a boat or two, but they caused more damage to their vessal than the Japanese one. Other than that, its a bunch of powder, rotten butter, and hoses, which the Japanese already have, so just some powered and rotten butter. Wow, what a threat! America should stop focusing on legitimate terrorists in the middle east and focus on a bunch of vegan voluteers on an ancient ship down in the frigid waters of Antarctica! The name calling is getting a bit harsher now from you.
And by the way, Paul Watson doesnt care for the show. He would prefer if there would be another way to get the attrocity of whaling to the public, but TV is the only way to get to ‘em. Ya really think he’s thinking about ratings down there?
Get a life
Hideyoshi Toyotomi:
You’re the terrorist one, terrorizing all of us (with a brain) with your idiotic arguments.
Are you a teenager or something? GET A LIFE!
Don’t you have anything better to do with your time or are you on the payroll of the whalers to spread disinformation? Are they that desperate?
Once and for all, stop lying about the alleged research:

Or do you also want to contest this?
What an idiot! I’ve been trying to ignore you but I’m sick and tired of reading comments of a coward like you who does nothing but trash everyone else behind the security of a computer. Believe me that if we were face to face you’d stop your filthy propaganda and go away.
It’s human trash (you read it well) like you that are destroying this planet. You’re a waste of air and you don’t deserve to live on such a wonderful planet as Earth.
I’m not sure you’re even japanese but if you are and if you’re a sample of the japanese people (which I highly doubt you are) then let me tell you I’m beginning to hate you guys… Again, I want to say I doubt REAL japanese people share your idiotic points of view.
To everyone else… please let’s just ignore this imbecile from now on and let’s hope he will get tired and go away once and for all!
So a link to what is clearly labelled as an opinion piece is your “proof” that the Japanese research is a lie?
That is pretty funny. I could find opinion pieces that claim the Earth is flat and that Space Aliens built the pyramids, does that make either of those things true?
The Japanese supply research results to the IWC every year, since they are doing research in an attempt to show the IWC that Minke whaling is sustainable. You can see the research at the IWC website.
Try and back your statements with facts next time.
Riiight, its totally research. Especially when their Japanese ships with RESEARCH written in english accross their sides! The US Navy doesnt have NAVY written on the side in spanish. Other than a bunch of paint, how many other resources do you have that say its legit? If they were real scientists there’d be guys out there experimenting on the whale, not a bunch of guys ripping it apart. Science doesnt care if a bunch of protestors decide to follow them and harass them, they just carry on anyways, without spending a bunch of money on trying to keep the protestors away. Scientists dont care about profits gained, they care about the research.
Try getting some logic into that head of yours. I did visit their site, and the only recent things (IE not from May) were them crying about some ships shining a laser, or weaving in front of them, or intimidating them.
Merry Christmas, and this is a beautiful portrait, I’ve always loved that art-style, as I’m an artist myself. : D
The more people that watch the documentary, The Cove, the more the truth is revealed about the toxicity in both Dolphins and Whales and brutality of Taiji’s rediculous and uneeded slaughter. My people are idiots for poisoning themselves, the whole radiation subject in Japan is going to start all over again because of Japan’s Whaling and their own idiocy and greed, and this is coming from a Japanese person. There will be more mentally retarded adults and children, infants born with severe birth defects like brain tumors, numoreous diseases, people with brain damage when they get older… That’s the thing about mercury, it doesn’t affect you until you get older, people make the assumption you’re just going to drop dead on the spot, no, you don’t, idiots. The symptoms come much later in life, when you get to mid adult years, then it starts to affect you, and it only gets worse from there.
What are you talking about, radiation? What does that have to do with mercury?
And not to let facts intrude into your rant, but Minke whales from Antarctic waters have some of the lowest mercury levels of ANY seafood. So health wise it would be better to eat Minke whales than tuna from Australia.
i wish shepherd fairey had a higher standard for his own work. this looks almost exactly like his obama picture. i’m betting he used this picture for his source:
