“I’m not just killing them, I’m f**king slaughtering them and I’m going to gut them and skin them, quarter them and butcher them and feed them to the soup kitchens and homeless shelters of America… That’s my goal in life.”

- Musician Ted Nugent hating on vegetarian celebrities in a big way. Now it’s one thing to disagree, but really with the “Nanny Nanny Boo Boo” stuff? Then again, this is coming from a guy who founded a camp for kids where a cornerstone of the curriculum was “hands-on hunting.” Twenty dollars says Ted comes back as a deer in the next life.  Keep up the good work, Pam and Paul. We’re on your side!

    As a vegan, I admire people (to a certain point) who kill their own food. People who hunt for sport are the ones who annoy me.

    Having said that, “Hunters Against Hunger” (under various names) supply over a million meals to the needy every year, across the US. If the vegan community has a problem with that, then fill up the homeless and hungry with vegetarian meals. I genuinely wish you luck.

      I agree both about Nugent, who is an idiot, as well as Hunters Against Hunger. I am a vegetarian and therefore choose not to eat meat, but if people are going to use what they hunt for food then I do not have a problem with it. It’s the hunters that do it for sport or kill wolves and other predators that I cannot abide.

      My workplace is crawling with hunters, and I can assure you that none of them care about feeding the hungry, and none of them care about the environment, as hunters also frequently claim. They eat packaged food products and lunchmeat sandwiches and fast food burgers, and they kill animals because they enjoy killing animals. Once in a while there’s some venison chili or jerky or something shared with coworkers, but this is more about bragging than sharing. The rest is a false front to make them look noble. They are not noble, I assure you.

      There are plenty of folks feeding hungry people veg meals. In fact, I worked at a nonprofit veg restaurant in Minneapolis where all the servers were volunteers and all tips went to a different hunger alleviation charity every month. This is just one example. Another: there’s lady in my community who distributes tons of fresh produce locally by collecting it from grocery stores and farmers and delivering it to food pantries.

      I have yet to meet a hunter who isn’t simply all about killing and bragging about it. These are not charitable, righteous people who prefer to eat humanely killed deer instead of factory farmed animal flesh.

        i only can accept hunting from Uncle Bob who lives in the woods and lives a simple life in his wooden hut, or Farmer Joe who shoots a rabbit for supper.

        The rest of these hunters are mentally sick people who come in their 4 wheel drive on a saterday to kill some poor animals not for food but to feel good.

        “Hunters Againts Hunger” is not a charitable organisation but a greenwashing of their bloody image.

        These people that report to be hunters. Give all hunters a bad name. Unfortunatley, those that once had the opportunity to live off the land. Trappers, fisherman, hunters have cosigned to the republican party.

      I, dislike Ted. Not, for your vegentarian reasons. Ted Nugent does not represent a owner of a 12 gauge shotgun or a .22 rimfire rifle. Their is no reason to excite or bring civil liberties to the discussion. We are approaching a time when we live off the land. Can, you imagine that?

      Since I’m here, here’s my 2 cents:
      Ted is just being clear in his stance, something that I can respect. He’s a little cruel with those barbed words, but he doesn’t agree with the PETA kool-aid and this is his (somewhat reactionary) viewpoint. Oh well I don’t think anybody was trying to “convert” him anyways.

      If there’s no room for other opinions then this is not a democracy, it’s elitist intolerance, and man, does that have a bad taste!

    I try not to wish anyone ill, but this sick a-hole has always infuriated and disgusted me like no one else. He doesn’t just kill out of necessity, he makes it clear that he really really enjoys it. I won’t be heartbroken if all the meat he eats ends up giving him a coronary.

    its one thing to eat with you kill, but hes just going to leave a pile of rotting carcasses. Its compulsive killing, it doesnt even serve a purpose. Atleast most vegetarians understand we dont need to leave a trail of blood in order to clothe or feed ourselves. We have a choice, he chooses death.

    This guy not only kills animals for fun– he also writes horrible degrading lyrics and is known for his penchant for underage girls (including the 17-year-old Hawaiian girl he “adopted” in the eighties so he could sleep with her).
