Quick to lend a generous hand, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $1 million from their charitable foundation to assist in relief efforts for the people of Haiti. The money will reportedly go to the org Doctors Without Borders to provide for emergency surgeries. The organization is sending a surgical team and an inflatable tent hospital that can hold 100 patients and two operating rooms.
“The first response is critical to serve the immediate needs of countless people who are now displaced from their homes, are suffering trauma, and most require urgent care,” Pitt said in a statement.
The cash comes on the heels of another announcement that George Clooney will host next Friday, January 22nd, a star-studded fundraising telethon to be broadcast on MTV. Details are light, but participation from many in the Hollywood community is expected.
