paltrowGwyneth Paltrow may be all about inspiring harmony in others with her GOOP newsletter, but her latest home plans are doing quite the opposite to neighbors on a North London Street.

The actress and her husband Chris Martin have purchased yet another home bordering their own so that they can house their staff. It’s the third upgrade to the original $5 million home — which in 2007 saw expansion with the purchase of a home to the left of the original — creating an $11.2 million superhouse with 33 rooms.

Plans were also revealed to tear down the current 10-foot wooden fence and replace it with an even larger metal barrier — not to mention the removal of trees and other natural attributes.

One resident told the UK Mail Online, “As neighbors, we have had years of their building works. Now the fence is just going to look ridiculous and we plan to object. They are turning a Victorian house into a fortress. They have taken down trees so they can park their flash cars in the driveway and are putting a huge swimming pool in the back garden. They said the trees were diseased but you can say anything when you have that amount of money. They are using their power and riches to get what they want.”

Celebrities need security, so I don’t have a problem with a “green celebrity” having a big/isolated house or even being jet set. Many of us have jobs that require travel.

However, 99% of the time trees do not need to be removed for development. It is a convenience for the developer to do so and a little extra money via sale of the wood.

Nobody, not even Paltrow or a world leader needs 33 rooms.

biggest hypocrite I’ve seen in ages. not to mention she doesn’t come off as particularly bright.

Yes, that’s right. Only bright people are allowed to spend the money they came by honestly on the home of their dreams. If my salary allowed it, I’d buy the home of my dreams, wouldn’t you? The only thing is that they should try to get along with their neighbours. And maybe they do, just not with all of them. I’m sure it’s a huge pain in the arse to live next to the eternally-remodelled house. I don’t know what anyone needs with 33 rooms, or even 16 when they owned only one house. But, I guess it’s their privilege and their right. I’m jealous.

gee, i wonder if they have heard of an earthquake in Haiti that has left thousands without homes, food and even water. Sad really that most people who can help, choose to be greedy and keep it for themselves. Such a sad life.
