In a surprising move, Woody Harrelson has shut down his Voice Yourself website — one of the longest running green sites online.

Since 2001, it has been a destination for many seeking sustainable living tips as well as healthy diet advice and eco-friendly product recommendations. Harrelson and his wife Laura were a constant presence and often shared great insight into world politics and the green movement. Now, all that’s left is a personal letter from Woody to fans of the site. It kind of seems like he may have just burned out on the updating.

“Now after much thoughtful consideration we have decided it is time to close down Voiceyourself as a day-to-day operation,” he writes. “This is as disappointing to me as it is for my collaborators but it is the right thing for many reasons. Every relationship has beginnings and endings that are not a single moment. It is a cumulative experience from which we can choose to grow and change. I have changed and I will cherish what I have learned from our experiences here, some good, some harsh. But in the spirit of change we must take a new direction from all that we have learned here to further our collective mission in other ways.”

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear as it those nine years of wisdom will be available — the site is shuttered.

RIP, VoiceYourself.com

Stop calling vegan food “cruelty-free”

Many vegans proudly proclaim that their food is “cruelty-free” as though issues of justice and injustice begin and end with our use of nonhuman animals.

My Parents Forced Veganism on Me

If vegan parents don’t “force” their vegan values and beliefs on their children, society won’t hesitate to “force” standard American values instead.
