The good green girl or guy knows that when shopping for a cuddly pet, the only reasonable option is a shelter animal. That’s why we’re so excited that Bonnie Hunt is helping to raise awareness for rescued animals by doing a pet adoption segment twice a month on her show.

During the segment, each animal gets his or her own video feature and a special shout out on Bonnie’s website. The talk show host explains that she’s always been an animal-lover and that, even as a child, she brought rescued animals into her home.

“My dad would say, ‘We can’t do this. Not another one,'” recalls Bonnie. “And then he would love them more than anybody. That was the whole premise of those Beethoven movies I did earlier in my career, where I played the mom who was like, ‘We’ll take the dog and hide it from dad.'”
