Damn, this would have been hilarious.
A skit involving Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Stiller has reportedly been cut from the Academy Awards due to “creative differences” — and, oh yea, a fear that James Cameron was going to be pissed.
The segment would have reportedly involved Cohen appearing onstage as a blue-skinned, female Na’vi who is carrying Cameron’s love child. According to USA TODAY, Academy spokeswoman Toni Thompson confirmed that Baron Cohen is no longer presenting, and the comedian’s rep, Matt Labov, confirms there were “creative differences.”
When asked last night at the Global Green Pre-Oscar party if he had concerns about the skit, Cameron said that he had no clue there was even one planned. “I don’t know anything about that. … I don’t produce the Oscars. If they want to poke fun at Avatar Sunday, that’s OK by me,” he told E!’s Cristina Gibson. “The Oscars are a celebration of movies … even the gaffes and out of bounds stuff are all part of the fun.”
