mystery gorillas, nat geo wild
National Geographic’s new television channel WILD launches at the end of this month, and we’re profiling another series getting ready to hit the scene with Mystery Gorillas. From the release,

Emerging Explorer Mireya Mayor immerses herself in the secret lives of wild gorillas, learning about new behaviors and group dynamics, such as the role of female choice and limited tool use. Travel to the forests of northern Congo, where record numbers of western lowland gorillas live unseen in the dense foliage. Mireya’s quest to see them up close gives her the chance to get to know the intimate details of one family — a big male named Kingo and his clan of females and young.

We’ve got 7 gorgeous photos from the new series in our gallery. Check them out here.

His eyes are so deep and full of emotion…it’s unfathomable to me that there are people that have to be convinced to care enough about these awesome creatures to want to conserve their habitat and save them.

On Fox news today they showed an interview with Mireya and said the show was premiering tonight on NTGEO – but I cannot find it. I figure the interview was taped at an earlier date – when did/does this actually premiere because you post the “end of this month” which makes me think I missed it as that would be end of March. However, I can keep watch for it as I’m sure it will be repeated. But if anyone knows when this will be on, I’d appreciate you posting it.
