Long time vegetarian and country music star Carrie Underwood is traveling around the country presenting $10,000 checks to various animal shelters.
On April 1, Underwood was in Pittsburgh to award a $10,000 check to Pittsburgh’s Animal Rescue League. While addressing reporters, Underwood discussed her rescue dog, Ace.
“Ace is a rat terrier. He’s about 10 pounds and goes everywhere with me,” said Underwood. “The only reason he doesn’t travel with me is if wherever we’re going has regulations or if we are going out of the country and they have quarantine rules, but 98 percent of the time, he is with me.”
Two days prior, the country crooner presented Bideawee Animal Shelter of Manhattan a check for 10 G’s.
The checks are donated on behalf of the Pedigree Adoption Drive who, through their partnership with Underwood, hopes to bring attention to the 4 million dogs that end up in shelters and breed rescues every year.
Pedigree will donate a bowl of food to a shelter dog for each person who becomes a fan of the organization on Facebook.
