This week we are featuring a brand new item from fashion designer Rachel Roy for our Twitter Thursday contest! This is Rachel Roy’s first foray into eco-fashion, though charity work is certainly in her blood. She’s involved with Fairwinds Trading and OrphanAid Africa.

Earth Day Sweater

This sweater was created in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and as part of a new program, Rachel Roy: Recycled Reused. This program creates products from recycled and reclaimed materials as a step forward to reducing our impact on the environment. The sweater features eco-tec yarn which uses recycled materials. 70% of the cotton fibers in Eco-tec yarn are regenerated from post-industrial cotton fabric scraps. The sweater uses reclaimed buttons – each sweater is unique as the reclaimed buttons are not uniform between each garment. The sweater features a special hang tag sourced from fabric scraps. Retail value: $89
