Kim Kardashian has landed a scolding from PETA after posting a photo of her holding a cat by the scruff of its neck on Twitter.

“Pic from my shoot yesterday…good kitty cat!” she tweeted.

Only PETA doesn’t agree. In a statement to X17Online.com, the animal rights org said “Kim Kardashian isn’t the only person who mistakenly thinks that because a mother cat picks up her kittens by the scruff of the neck that a supportive hand under the rump isn’t needed.”

Not so fast. On the other side of the pond, the RSPCA told Confidential that Kim’s handling of the kitty is how they generally pick up their own cats. “But if it’s a larger cat, we’d put the hand under the rump,” they added. “She’s at least half right.”

What do you think? Bad for kitty or par for the course?

Adult cats shouldn’t be picked up like that, obviously, if one wants to be perfect in PETA’s eyes.

    As we all do.

Gee. I keep my eyes on Kim Kardashian long enough, I couldn’t even notice. But, hey, everyone makes a mistake every now and then. Can’t really blame the girl, right?

I do not think this is a matter of PETA being in her business, all PETA did was to bring attention to the way she is holding up the cat. Ahhh, the things some people do for publicity, even at the expense of innocent creatures. And not, that is just not right. If i did that to one of my cats they would claw my face off. This woman doesn’t even like animals.

Also, this picture reminds me of that picture of the Petland employee that drowned two rabbits in Ohio.

Yes, i know, the cat in Kim’s hand is not dead, but i could not get the image of that idiot in Ohio holding the two bunnies out of my mind while looking at Kim’s pic.

I think PETA is overreacting, they should focus on the many serious things happening against animals.
I always had cats, I have 2 now, and small cats can be hold like that, in only for a very short time, the cat itself in the picture doesn’t look angry.
The ridiculous thing is the girl’s pouting and the fact that she didn’t put the other hand under the cat because it would cover up her boob!

She’s clearly trying to glamorize this kind of handling, which is wrong. Beyond that, animals are not and should not be props. Like it or not, PeTA is right here. 100%.

I completely agree with the fact that animals should NEVER be used as props, but I still think PETA is overreacting.

PETA just said a few words, and quite honestly they have made bigger stinks about other issues. What they said this time is nothing compared to other situations. Just because some people hold cats like that does not make it right, and those who oppose that should not stay quiet either.

Yes, kittens do get picked up by their mothers but this is a larger cat. It doesn’t look full grow but obviously far out of the range in which a kitten would naturally be diciplined by the mother. As a cat grows the skin cannot support the weight. I’ve volunteered with numerous non-profit no-kill shelters and while we do restrain cats by grabbing them by the scruff we only do so to pin them to the ground until they get calm. Lifting them off the ground not only injures the cat but also buts the person at risk of getting clawed. Cats are fighters and rarely submit. I guess this is what happens when you grow up a spoiled rich kid who doesn’t know what it is to suffer.

Its just not nice, she probably has false nails digging in it little skin, bless it, just to make herself look good.

    • Aymee

I don’t even think she looks good. With that smokers lip, armpit boob, and those man knuckles she just looks like a good transvestite.

I think that the problem no one has thought of is that she probably has huge false talons for fingernails, and she is digging those talons into that poor cats flesh!!!

Peta was contacted and asked for their opinion of this photo. they simply give a rather mild and short one sentence reply about the best way of handling your cat. it isnt that Peta takes this photo as an oportunity for a full campaign or somethimng, it isnt even an issue, so there is no need to accuse Peta of “overreacting”.

RSPCA handles their cats like that ? yuks.

What the heck is wrong with her and how far will she go to promote herself…what a really poor example she is…I will now ignore anything she says and does…she does not deserve the attention…
