One of our favorite veggie designers does more than just eat green…she lives green, too!
Stella McCartney recently opened her first store in Milan and, of course, added some very eco features.
Word on the street (and by street we mean the New York Times) is that the new store incorporates green elements like a sustainable oak parquet floor and organic felt cubes.
The Times also reports that McMartney has dreams of achieving LEED certification — an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building was designed and built aimed at improving energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
As always, Stella avoids anti-green textiles like leather and fur, and regularly uses organic cotton, low impact dyes and manufacturing in countries that do not use child labor. Nice!
