During the recent TED Mission Blue Voyage (attended by celebs like Leonardo DiCaprio and Edward Norton), Scientist Edith Widder gave a presentation on her area of expertise: Marine Bioluminescence.
It’s a stunning talk lasting just over 17-minutes and features video from deep under the ocean — where creatures that glow are the rule and not just the exception. Highlights also include a dolphin cruising through bioluminescent water and the alien-like lightshow of a jellyfish when touched.
