Christie's Green Auction: 'A Bid to Save the Earth' Raises $1.3 Million For Eco Groups
Earlier this month, Ecorazzi reported that Christie’s — the world’s leading art business — was holding a special green auction to honor the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, aptly titled, ‘A Bid to Save the Earth.’ Well, the auction was held last week, and although Ecorazzi couldn’t make it (we’re crazy nuts busy, yo!), our friends at TreeHugger.com covered the event with style and panache!
According to TreeHugger, the event, which was hosted by Susan and David Rockefeller, raised $1,387,000 to benefit four major environmental non-profits, including: Conservation International, Oceana, Natural Resources Defense Council(NRDC) and The Central Park Conservancy. Get out of town!
Stars like Sam Waterson, Miranda Kerr, Ted Danson, Candice Bergen, Al Roker, Ann Curry, Matt Lauer and Salma Hayek were among the 600 guests who helped make the event an absolute success!
But wait! Just because you missed out doesn’t mean you have to freak out! If you’d still like to bid on some cool celeb experiences, simply visit ‘A Bid to Save the Earth’s’ silent auction page before May 6. You can also pledge a $10.00 donation by texting “gogreen” to phone number 20222.
