NBC Nightly News regularly profiles everyday people who are doing their part to help neighbors or strangers get through tough times. This week the series focuses on “Celebrities Making a Difference,” including Sally Field, Eva Longoria, Will Ferrell, Usher, Mariska Hargitay, and Ben Affleck.

Sally Field and her cause Vital Voices, an international nonprofit that identifies, trains, and empowers women leaders, was featured on Monday’s show. And on Tuesday, Eva Longoria discussed her charity Eva’s Heroes which is dedicated to enriching the lives of the developmentally challenged.

Tonight Ben Affleck talks about the Eastern Congo Initiative which serves as an advocate for people of Eastern Congo. Last month, Ecorazzi discussed the organization in detail, which Affleck said includes a “unique collection of partners in order to bring their experience in humanitarian relief and sustainable development to bear as we focus like never before on local solutions to challenges in this region.”

Will Ferrell, Usher, and Mariska Hargitay will round out the week with the charities Cancer for College, Power by Service, and Joyful Heart Foundation, respectively.

The segments air during NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams each night this week.
