It’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything about The Colony — an eco-horror film from the same Participant Media (Food, INC, The Cove) — but some fresh details have finally emerged.

Or should we say, “hatched”.

Word is that special effects guru Patrick Tatopoulos is in negotiations with the production company to direct the film; with a start date for filming in the fall. The plot also appears to deal with the Earth suffering through anothe ice age — and all the nasties that come with it. From DreadCentral:

“Being heralded as “The Birds with bugs” the film revolves around a group of survivors who are forced underground by the next ice age. There, they must fight to preserve humanity against a savage threat.”

Obviously, that’s not a lot to chew on, so we’ll reserve any excitement. It actually sounds a bit like Kilmer’s The Thawbut with a better budget. More to come.
