On July 1, Kevin Spacey will host a star studded birthday celebration at The Old Vic, a theater located just southeast of Waterloo Station in London. The gala, which doubles as a fundraiser, will feature an exclusive private performance by Paul McCartney and a live art auction hosted by Oliver Barker, senior director at Sotheby’s.
Monies raised during the event will go toward restoration of the 192 year old theater building in addition to supporting McCartney’s Meat Free Monday campaign which raises awareness of the correlation between climate change and meat consumption.
“We are thrilled Paul McCartney will lend his extraordinary talents on the evening alongside brilliant artists who’ve generously donated their artworks for auction,” said Spacey who serves as the artistic director for The Old Vic. “It’s set to be quite a night.”
Yesterday it was announced that Paul McCartney may be taking his tour to the White House. That information has now been confirmed. The longtime vegetarian will perform at the White House on June 2 as part of a concert in his honor where he will be presented with the third annual Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from President Obama.
