A certified green vegan restaurant getting a little well-deserved love in front of millions of viewers? Best. Story. Ever.

On a recent CBS news broadcast, Candle 79 — one of our favorite NYC vegan hotspots — got some special love for their eco menu.

During the feature, viewers got the chance to check out a sampling of Candle’s plant-based creations, including the Seitan Piccata, Angel’s Nachos and a lunch time favorite, the Black Bean Pumpkin Seed Burger.

“It’s fourteen dollars and it’s a wonderful dense, rich Black Bean Pumpkin Seed burger,” said General Manager Francesca MacAaron. “It has brown rice and spices, grilled organic red onion, a wonderful chewy organic potato roll, a beautiful salad and polenta fries.”

I have yet to try Candle 79, but it is my list for the next time I visit NYC. Horizons and MiLah in Philadelphia are both all vegan and highly recommended establishments. Also, New Harmony in Chinatown, for not so healthy and filling chinese, which is all vegan as well. Yumm..!

That place looks suave. Wanna try their specialties sometime. What specific cuisine do they serve anyway? Chinese? Indian, Pan Continenatal? love em all!

Why are people so suprised when vegan food is delicious? I mean, just because we don’t eat animals doesn’t mean we don’t love good food! To be fair, though, I’m surprised when a carnist restaurant makes better vegan meals than a vegan restaurant, something I experienced not long ago.
