NBC sure has been on our ‘nice’ list lately. Whether they’re looking for ways to green their act or spotlighting world-changers, the network genuinely seems to be focused on doing good.

Most recently, NBC officially declared June 21st through June 26th “Healthy Week.”

“NBC Universal has the unique opportunity to join in a national dialogue around critical issues such as health through our vast media and content portfolio,” said Lauren Zalaznick, President of NBCU Universal Women and Lifestyle Entertainment networks. “With 33% of U.S. adults and 1 in every 5 kids obese, we can make a positive difference in this nationwide crisis by encouraging consumers to live a healthier lifestyle as we inform, educate, and entertain them.”

Some programming features include a special episode of Top Chef with the coordinator of Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move Program, and special health tips from Biggest Loser trainers Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper (a recent vegan).

Why Vegetarianism Makes No Sense From A Moral Perspective

I don’t consider my years as a vegetarian as a stepping-stone or prerequisite to veganism

I hope I win the ‘Pig Farmers of Tomorrow’ contest I entered (I’m vegan)

I think I’ll likely have the most interest in pigs of anyone applying, anyway.

Hopefully Jon & Tracey Stewart use their new farm for vegan education

They’ve promised classes on caring for animals and sustainable agriculture, so vegan 101 would be a great place to start.
