The 2010 installment of the highly anticipated Shark Week kicks off tonight on Discovery Channel at 9 p.m. EST with “Ultimate Air Jaws.”  Similar to last year’s popular “Air Jaws,” camera crews capture great white sharks as they breach the surface of South African Waters at 25 mph to attempt a sneak attack on seals — but this time the action is captured with hi-tech HD cameras shooting in super-slow motion.

Also during the week, viewers will be treated to a variety of shows celebrating the species from “Into the Shark Bite” to “Shark Attack Survival Guide” and, of course, “Shark Bites: Adventures In Shark Week”—a show that gets Craig Ferguson off his late night couch and into the water of the Bahamas to feed sharks.

To celebrate Shark Week 2010 we have compiled 10 of our favorite photos from this year’s event. >>Check them out here.
