“This always comes up: People say, ‘What interested you in animal rights?’ I don’t know; I’m not a serial killer. How can you not care about these issues? We’re up against not just a presentational onslaught but an attitudinal onslaught. The other side is just there for sales; they can have a smile and contain it because they don’t give a shit. If you give a shit you have more of a responsibility to care, and the only way you can do that is to make them feel like they’re attached to the same thing you love — not the thing you hate. That’s why I work with the Humane Society and with Farm Sanctuary; that’s where the caring we all have actually translates into some action.”
