Betty White knows that Betty White is hot — and like any other 88-year-old in the middle of a massive career tsunami, she’s striking while the iron is hot.

The latest media industry to fall under her spell is the publishing world, with G.P. Putnam’s Sons announcing Wednesday that the actress has signed a two-book deal, with the first one — “Listen Up!” — due out next spring. The book focuses on her more than six decades in Hollywood, giving the BW commentary on everything from sex to love and aging.

The second book, due out in 2012, will focus on her relationship with her “zoo animal friends” and be called “The Zoo and I: Betty and Her Friends”. White is a longtime Los Angeles Zoo Board member. “Much as I love what I do for a living in show business, I love writing even more — so I am thrilled to be working on not only one new book but two of them,” she said.

In return, her new publishing house gushed over twitter saying, “Have you heard the news?! We just signed actress Betty White for two books!!! I LOVE her!”

Don’t we all? Don’t forget — that awesome 2011 Betty White Calendar benefitting the Morris Animal Foundation goes on sale soon. Pre-order it here!
