harrison fordOperation Smile is holding its 9th Annual Smile Gala on September 24 — and Harrison Ford, John Stamos, and philanthropist Susan Casden are all set to receive distinguished awards.

For his part in assisting Operation Smile with relief efforts in Haiti, Harrison Ford will receive the John Connor Humanitarian Service Award. Over two days, Ford made several trips to a remote dirt landing strip in Haiti and delivered a team of Operation Smile volunteers along with critical medical supplies. Ford said he wanted to provide support after seeing the devastating impact of the earthquake, and noted, “This is not about me, it is just about doing what I can to help Operation Smile and the people of Haiti.”

John Stamos will receive the Universal Smile Award — but the “why” here is a bit unclear according to the press release. I believe it’s for his charity work with a group called Project Cuddles, for which he is a National Spokesperson and Chairman of the Advisory Board. It’s also noted that he will be making an appearance on the upcoming season of GLEE (the cast of which will also perform at the gala), so look for that.

More information on the event can be found here.
