New NASA PSAs Feel Like One Giant Advertisement For 'AVATAR'

Avatar has its re-release in theaters this week, and NASA has taken the odd position of helping to promo the film through a series of PSAs with James Cameron.

Granted, having Cameron involved in highlighting the agency’s earth science exploration isn’t surprising — especially considering his current work in developing a 3D camera for the next Mars rover. But something about these PSAs just feels uninspired — and it’s probably the 30-second too-long Avatar highlight that’s at the heart of it.
