Spike Lee is not so happy with a one President Barack Obama over how he handled the Gulf coast oil crisis.
Specifically, Lee is upset that Obama “trusted” BP executives and for taking seven weeks to invite the families of 11 platform workers killed in the explosion to the White House.
Spike tells GQ magazine, “I don’t know why Obama ever trusted these BP guys! They would lie to their mothers. (Former BP president Tony) Hayward does not give a s**t. The thing we don’t talk about is that 11 Americans lost their lives and it took seven weeks to invite their families to the White House. I’m not trying to bash my man, but that’s a long time.”
Lee recently produced and directed ‘If God is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise’ — an HBO documentary about the oil spill — which premiered last night. The second part of documentary will air tonight.
Do you think President Obama acted appropriately, or did he take too long and trust the wrong people? Chime in and share your thoughts!
