Although I’m a solid 5 on the Nerd Scale (it’s out of 10, thank you), I must confess that I’ve never seen an episode of Star Trek. No — not even one! Still, I’m excited to hear that Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Michael Dorn is proudly discussing his vegan diet.

In a recent interview with KeepFitWithPhoebe.com, Dorn shared that after going vegan he lost over 40 pounds and feels fantastic.

“I have not missed meat at all,” said the actor. “The only thing I would even think about missing is hamburgers and french fries. You can still have french fries. But I’ve found that the vegetarian burger and the stuff that’s out there now is very good when you dress it up…So I don’t miss it at all. It’s sort of like, it’s easy to make the transition because I feel so much better.”

Hey, we love that story!

Check out the video below to hear more from Michael Dorn. We think he’s a great spokesman for the cause!

I’m a 10 out of 10 geek, having seen EVERY episode of Star Trek (the original), and you’re right — this is fantastic news. FYI, Mr. Spock is vegan too …

    Go “Worf!” LOL!

I actually own the entire series of ‘Star Trek: TNG’ on DVD…and never missed an ep the 7 years it aired (1987-1994). But I have only seen maybe one or two eps of the original ‘Star Trek.’ LOL! Even in the series, characters hinted at being veggie. They used a “replicator” for food…and I believe it was either “Geordi” or “Data” who said they couldn’t believe that animals were ever killed for food. Seriously.
