Oprah To Interview Discovery Channel Hostages

Oprah Winfrey’s people announced yesterday (in dramatic all-caps fashion) that she will be interviewing the hostages taken by James Jay Lee at Discovery Communication’s HQ two weeks ago.

“FIRST TELEVISION INTERVIEW: DISCOVERY HEADQUARTERS HOSTAGES COME FORWARD” on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” Thursday, Sept. 16.

As we now know, Lee had been displeased with Discovery’s programming for several years and sought earlier through protest to change what he viewed as shows that were harmful to the planet. On September 1st, he turned violent, storming the Discovery Channel headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland — taking several hostages, and posting a list of demands online. He was later shot and killed by police after reportedly pointing a gun at one of the hostages.
